Abstract：Hyperbole is one of commonly used methods in English teaching. With reasonable exaggeration, it can create the effect of novelty and uniqueness. Proper use of hyperbole can interest students in language learning. In this paper, the necessity and effect of using hyperbole in elementary English teaching and the aspects needing attention are discussed.
