Abstract:Since 1920s,many scholars have done research on XHY. In fact, there are numerous examples in Chinese literary works. What’s more, more and more western people become interested in Chinese culture with the prosperity of our country. As a result, the translation of XHY has gradually been a hot topic among the scholars and experts from home and abroad. XHY has a long history and rich connotation which is closely connected with the traditional culture. That makes it difficult for foreigners to understand. Besides, homophones exist that may not be found in other languages. So it is hard to preserve the traditional culture and make it easy to be understood at the same time. To achieve this goal , domestication and foreignization will be used in a proper way. The differences of culture between East and West also influence the translation. Dream of the Red Chamber is a typical case,so the translation of XHY in it and comparisons of different editions of those famous translators will show us the culture and translating way behind XHY.
