Abstract:The purpose of the study is to discuss the pragmatic information of Longman Advanced American Dictionary. Taking Longman Advanced American Dictionary as an example the paper aims to probe into the typical meanings of discourse under different situations and the general rules. The study lists similar pragmatic information which may cause  misunderstanding. And how to distinguish it. The study may be helpful to the English learners.
