Abstract:Becky Sharp is a character with distinct personality in Vanity Fair by Thackeray, an English critical realism novelist. At present, many scholars just analyze one aspect of Becky’s personality, especially, the negative side. This paper aims to analyze the dual personality of Becky, who lives in Britain in the 19th century. On the one hand, she is clever, brave, and loyal; on the other hand, she is indifferent, greedy and full of vanity. This paper also aims to probe into the causes of her dual personality.
