Abstract:This thesis first analyses the sexist English vocabulary from the perspective of markedness, semantic scale, commendatory and derogatory sense of words. Then it explores methods that to some extent reduce the sexism in the society, which includes using neutral words, canceling masculine pronouns, employing bisexual words and creating new words.
