Abstract:Business English Letters is one of the necessary tools in international trade, so the accuracy of the translation of Business English letters is directly related to the success or failure of the transaction. This thesis takes the application of Cooperative Principle in business English letter translation as an innovation point to deepen the understanding of Grice’s Cooperative Principle and broaden the scope of application of this principle. The thesis consists of 5 parts: First, introducing the background and definition of Cooperative Principle; Second, describing four maxims of the principle, what is the business English letter, the classification and characteristics of business English letter; Third, analyzing the application of Cooperative Principle in translation; Fourth, studying the application of four maxims of the principle in business English letter. The fifth part is the conclusion. Therefore, illustrating how the translators apply the Cooperative Principle to business English letter translation by some examples is the key point of the article in essence.
