Abstract

Phonetic teaching is the foundation of foreign language teaching, and it plays a very important role in improving language skills. Although our students’ English abilities have been improved, their abilities in English phonetic still need to be improved, at the same time, the schools and teachers also lack recognition of phonetics teaching, which makes Chinese phonetic teaching situation a cause for concern.

This paper first discusses the studying situation of English phonetics teaching at home and abroad, and then talks about the current situation of English phonetics teaching in our country. At last, this paper also talks about the role of English phonetics teaching in improving students' oral communication ability, listening ability, reading ability, grammar ability and writing ability. The purpose is to demonstrate the profound significance of English phonetics teaching in English teaching.
