Abstract

This dissertation is an investigation in allusion to English vocabulary teaching in primary school. Vocabulary is the basic unit in any language and plays a vital role in communication. It is important to enlarge one’s vocabulary because it is a precondition to improve abilities in listening, speaking, reading and writing. So vocabulary teaching is a part of great importance in English teaching. However, there are some problems in English vocabulary teaching in primary school, includes problems on the study of students and problems on the teaching of teachers. This dissertation mainly does a research on the current situation of vocabulary teaching in a primary school and finds existing problems by analyzing questionnaires. At last, this dissertation will give some proper suggestions on vocabulary teaching and learning in order to increase efficiency of students and teachers.
