Abstract

This dissertation reveals female's status in the 18th century and shows the awakening of feminism by the analysis of the manifestation of feminism. In the novel, women began to pursue independent life actively and make efforts to struggle for their own happiness, but still couldn't get away from the shackles of male chauvinism. This analysis aims to encourage women  nowadays to be mentally strong and independent, accelerate the wakening of feminism, and reduce the influence of the patriarchal.
