Abstract

 

In the teaching process, it is discovered that primary school students have the problem of pronunciation and the distinction between similar words, which is caused by the ignorance of the phonetics teaching. This paper, based on the background and the way of phonetics teaching, discusses the importance of phonetics teaching. The inaccuracy of pronunciation makes it difficult for primary school students to understand others, thus affecting the cultivation of the listening ability. Without the rules of phonetics, students will recite words by rote, which causes great difficulty to them. The ignorance of phonetics teaching makes students fear to speak English. Therefore, it is a vital question especially for the primary school students.
