Abstract

As cross-cultural mode, the movie subtitle translation seems very important for translation practice and cross-cultural communication. The thesis explores and researches the movie subtitle translation of Pygmalion from the perspective of the relevance theory, in order to provide new method guiding the movie subtitle translation, and to provide best experience for moviegoers. Based on the relevance theory and the relevance translation theory, the thesis explores and discusses the subtitle translation strategies of Pygmalion—domestication and foreignization, for the purpose of providing practicable methods for movie subtitle translation.
