Abstract

The development and popularity of cross-cultural interactions and communications brought about a booming market for the film translation. A flood of foreign productions poured into China. Only excellent translation can express foreign film’s true meaning and make domestic audience understand the true connotation about foreign cultures. However, in China, film subtitle translation has not formed a normative and complete system yet. The paper is based on the film subtitle translation’s meaning, overseas and domestic research status, and purpose of translation, in order to form a more perfect system. Besides, with the help of Skopos Theory, the paper will put forward some advice on the movie High School Musical. By watching related videos, researching and collecting information, recording and analyzing, this paper draws up conclusions about translation strategies.
