Abstract:Image plays an important role in the Song Ci, and the correct understanding of the image is the key to understand the whole lyric and the emotions of the poet. The appropriate translation of images is the key part relating to the correct understanding from the target language user of the lyric. Although, based on different cultural background, some images are the same meaning, other images may not have the equal meanings and even completely opposite. This paper is based on Palmer' s cultural linguistics perspective, which takes images as the foundation. Based on the English translation of Song Ci, this paper will discuss the explanation and feasibility of Palmer’ s cultural linguistics when images in lyric are translated. Then the images in target language will be appreciated.
