Abstract: With the rapid progress of stock market in China, increasing researchers have focused on the studies of stock news reports at home and abroad. Due to the relatively backward situation of the stock market in China, a lot of aspects need to be learnt from the English stock news reports in terms of writing strategies. This paper takes two popular English newspapers, namely 21st China Business Herald and Wall Street Journal, as examples to conduct comparative study of the stock news reports at home and abroad. On the basis of content analysis, the writing strategies in the stock news reports have been studied in terms of narrative ways and lexical and syntactic selection. In the end, some suggestions include that reporters should focus on the investors in global view and strengthen the awareness and the education of writing strategies for the stock news reports in China.
