Abstract

This paper describes Gatsby’s love tragedy and his behaviors to save his love; it analyzes the causes of Gatsby’s tragedy socially and personally. It is the social phenomenon of the rigid social hierarchy, money worship and spiritual vacuum as well as Gatsby’s character weakness that caused the disillusionment of Gatsby’s love. At the end of the paper, the author points out this thesis also has the realistic significance, the paper aims at making people understand this novel more deeply and contributing to building healthy values today.
