Abstract
For Chinese people, face is not just a sense of self-esteem. It also includes social prestige, social status, and human values. Losing face inspires shame. The phenomenon that Chinese pay more attention to the Face culture is a social psychological need, and it also illustrates the lazy mind in judgment of value. This thesis is based on intercultural communication from oppressive and negative attitude and mood to collective interest of the Face. And from these points of view, we can understand the Face in Chinese culture well. On the one hand, we can understand the characteristic of face in Chinese traditional culture better; on the other hand, we can get some useful information, from the formation of facial cultures, the history, the development of the Face culture, the understanding and analysis of intercultural interactions to the importance of intercultural diplomacy and influence on all aspects. It is expected that the theory involved in this thesis will have useful value and provide insights into future research in the relevant fields.
