Abstract

Film names have attracted the audience with its unique information function and aesthetic function since last century. China’s communication with the rest of the world has been increasingly frequent. Countless movies from Britain, the U.S.A. and even Hong Kong flooded into the mainland. Films have become the necessary part of Chinese recreational life. The success of the title translation is related to the spread and depth of the films directly. Good translation of film names can not only reach commercial value but also reach aesthetic value. This thesis describes the translation methods and analyses some translation examples. I hope that translators can pay more attention to the work of translation of film names from the thesis.
